People! Have your people on show for our people
Last week we got more people participating in Sunday Art, with lots of different ways representing Speed. We were really happy to see that! Thank you!
This week’s theme, as you can tell by the goofy title, is People. It can be one People (ok, Person) or a multitude. Old people, young people, tall people, short people, people far away, people up close….there’s lots you can do with that theme!
Remember, use whatever media you feel best about using, be it a drawing in the sand or a sculpture from stone. It can be something you whip off or something you spend all week planning and executing.Whatever your preference is fine with us.
Our people are looking forward to seeing your people this Sunday.

Sunday is “Draw a Bird Day”. Can you combine this with #SundayArt?
Of course! But first, you say, what is Draw a Bird Day? According to Wikipedia, it started in the U.K. in the 1940, takes place on the 8th of April every year, and…you guessed it…you have to draw a bird. Then you share it! Perfect for Sunday Art!
For more info, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DABDay
This Sunday the theme for Sunday Art is Shapes. This Sunday is also Easter Sunday. See if you can combine this all some how! Have fun!

How did your Sunday Art turn out? And are you ready for the next theme?
We hope you had a chance you create something new with last week’s theme: colours. If you did, great! Hope you remembered to tag it with #sundayArt, too.
This week the theme is Shapes. Why not start now jotting out some ideas that might inspire you to come up with a doodle, a sketch, or what ever you want based around the idea of shapes.
If you get stuck for ideas, try this. Write down the word Shapes (or shape). Then around it write down words that you associate with that word. It could be synonyms, antonyms, or different meanings of the word. It could be words that remind you of the word Shape (e.g., Sharp, Snake and Tape all sound like Shape, while Round, Square and Wavy are all words that are types of shapes). Once you get that, try associating images or colours or other things with the word. For example, a green wavy snake. Now think of how you might represent that with a painting, a photo, etc. If you start brainstorming and freely associating, you can come up with lots of visual ideas that you can work with.
Whatever you decide to do, have fun! We look forward to knowing about what you have created.

#sundayART begins April 1st, 2012!!!

What is #sundayART? It’s a weekly challenge designed to get you producing art work that you can share with others.
How does it work? It’s simple: every Sunday, starting on April 1st, 2012, check the Sunday Art calendar here on this Tumblr and then produce a doodle, a quick sketch, a photoshopped image, a painting, a sculpture, or what ever you are best / happiest making. Then share it using your favourite social media (Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, etc.) and tag it with #sundayArt, the date and the theme.
(please note: Facebook will not allow us to pin images)
Who can do this? Anyone. Of any skill. It doesn’t matter how old you are, how good you are, or what media you like to work with.
Why are you doing this? We were talking about how we wished we were doing more creatively. We also talked about how much we enjoy working on the photo of the day challenge on Instagram. So we decided: why not come up with a similar approach for art work? It would give us an incentive to sit down and create something. The result is #sundayART.
What’s the goal? There’s no bigger goal other than to have fun, be inspired, be playful, experiment, and share the art work that you are producing. Ideally this will catch on and we will find out that there are lots of people out there waiting for the moment to be the artist that they have always been.
What if I am no good? Like we said, it is meant to be fun and for all skill levels. Whatever you do will be better than you think and better than if you do nothing. Likewise, the more fun you have doing it, the better it may be.
Why isn’t it daily? We figured that it might take more time to produce some art works like a painting than it does to produce a photo. We decided a week is a good length and it keeps you from making it too serious.
Do I have to do it on Sunday? Nope. You can produce your art work at any time of the week. Tag it with #sundayArt, though, in order that others can see and search for it.
Will I get rich as a result of this? If some big art dealer sees your work and loves it, then yes! Otherwise, no. :)
What do I do next? Start creating! Tag it. Post it online. Let others know. Let us know.
Are you going to post everyone’s work on this tumblr? For now we thought we’d use the tumblr simply to inform people of what is happening with the Sunday Art project.
How can I get more information? Easy. You can comment here on this tumblr. Or you can send us an email at our gmail account: mySundayArt. Or you can send us a tweet on our Twitter account: @mySundayArt. We may not get back to you right away, but we will try to get back to you in a day or two.
Ready? Excellent. We hope to see your work soon!
